The Locked-On uplink vehicle is a redundant dual path digital SNG truck OR a single path analog transmission uplink.

The truck uses Tandberg E5500 encoders which are 4:2:0 / 4:2:2 switchable and have RAS 1 encryption available on a 4 port, 1.5m Vertex antenna. Because of the configuration of this truck, it is easy to create additional digital paths from this same dish by patching in additional encoders. Up to four paths of digital transmission can be available for pool events with advance notice.

The communications to the cameras are two RTS BP325 belt pack user stations, and there are two IFB breakout boxes. IFB can be provided via cell phones, satellite phone or land lines.

The truck can “take” in our switcher up to four cameras on one path or two cameras on two separate digital paths.

There are two analog cell phones in the truck and one satellite phone with two Gentner audio couplers. There are also two digital cell phones in the system, on different providers to guarantee further redundancy.

There are three spools of 100 meter four audio/ two video cable runs and a spool of 100 meter SDI cable.

Onboard power is supplied by a 7.2 kW Generac generator or a 5 kW engine-driven Aura generator, or by shore power.

The truck was built by Wolf Coach on a Ford E350 Superduty Econoline van. It has a V-10 engine, modifications to the suspension and cooling systems, and a raised roof. The small size of this uplink truck is an added benefit when space is limited, or the uplink presence needs to be unobtrusive.

A Sony DNWA220PAC3 has been added onto the truck offering SX/SP Beta play out and editing. A Direct TV dish and receiver is also available.
